MARANGU ROUTE
about this route
Total Distance: 72 kilometers
Recommended Duration: 6 Days
This is the most popular route for tourists, often referred to as the "Coca-Cola route" due to its relatively easy ascent. The journey begins on the southeastern side of the mountain, starting at Mandara Hut. It offers a gradual and steady ascent, making it well-suited for those new to mountain climbing. This route provides excellent views of the rainforest section and moorlands.
However, it's worth noting that this route has limited acclimatization opportunities, and climbers stay on the same side of the mountain for both the ascent and descent, which may limit the overall experience. For a more comprehensive and gradual acclimatization, consider extending your climb duration.
